Lakeland falls to Aurora in NAC action

AURORA, Ill.-- The Lakeland College men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Aurora University in Northern Athletics Conference play Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans jumped on the Muskies in the first half when Nick Helmer combined for a goal off a free kick in the 21st minute to give Aurora the 1-0 lead.

Head coach Tony Pierce was disappointed with the team's slow start, but was pleased with their second half efforts.

"The guys woke up after Aurora scored and starting playing better," said Pierce. "In the second half we worked hard to create a few chances, but those were minimized by Aurora."

Lakeland returns to NAC action on Tuesday, Oct. 26 on the road against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game time is 7 p.m. at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, Wis.
