SHEBOYGAN - The ninth-ranked Lakeland men's volleyball team closed the home portion of its 2010 schedule with a 26-24, 28-26, 19-25, 23-25, 15-11 defeat against No. 22 UW-Whitewater Tuesday in a Wisconsin Volleyball Conference match at Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (21-6 overall, 7-3 WVC) have lost back-to-back matches for the first time since Feb. 7, 2009, when they were knocked off twice in a row at a Midwest 10 Playdate.

The setback also marks just the second this season to an opponent other than UW-Oshkosh.

Lakeland gained momentum heading into the fifth set by winning the third and fourth. However, the Warhawks (15-6, 6-4) jumped out to a 10-6 advantage in the fifth and traded points with the Muskies to claim the match.

Outside hitters Joe Julkowski (Carol Stream, Ill.) and Dane Maier (Middleton, Wis.) paced the Lakeland offense with 16 and 12 kills, respectively.

Sophomore setter Mitch Wiskirchen (Schaumburg, Ill.) totaled 43 assists and nine digs, while junior middle hitter Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill.) added seven blocks.

The Muskies head to the WVC Tournament this Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, in Whitewater, Wis. Match times and opponents are TBA.
