Senior Mary Dennewitz (Chicago, Ill.) had 16 points to lead the Lakeland College women's basketball team to a 67-57 victory over Alverno College Saturday afternoon in the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies led by as many as 22 points early in the second half, but saw that lead shrink as Alverno made several runs and got to within seven points with 4:38 left. Lakeland kept their focus and maintained their composure to improve to 3-1 and 1-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference North division.
Junior Mallory Magee (Stockton, Ill.) hit a three-pointer with 4:24 left to give the Muskies a ten point lead that they would not relinquish. Magee recorded a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
