19-match win streak snapped

Athletics - posted on 9/28/2010

The Lakeland College women's volleyball team fell to Edgewood College 3-1 (15-25, 14-25, 25-15, 18-25) in Northern Athletics Conference play Tuesday night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.

The Eagles took advantage of the Muskies lack of effort in the first two sets and the deficit proved too much to overcome. Edgewood snapped an 19-match losing streak to Lakeland - their previous win over the Muskies was Oct. 26, 1999.

Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber was disappointed with his team's play and effort.

"We were not competitive in the first two games at all," said Schreiber. "We played well in the third set, but we fell right back off. We are lacking focus and effort; it's hard to coach when the effort and desire to win isn't present."

The Muskies (3-10, 1-2 NAC) will look to keep another streak in tact when they host MSOE on Friday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. Schreiber has never lost to MSOE in his 16 years as Lakeland's coach.
