Muskies suffer second conference loss
Athletics - posted on 2/10/2011
The Lakeland men's volleyball team dropped its second Wisconsin Volleyball Conference match on Thursday night to Marquette 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12).
The Muskies (8-5 overall, 5-2 WVC) lack of effort and poor serving led to a bad performance against their conference foe.
"This was our most disappointing performance of the year," Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber said. "The Minute we'd turn it around, we'd find another way to hurt ourselves. I thought poor effort led to mental mistakes and our serving was embarrassingly bad."
Lakeland, who is an honorable mention in the Feb. 4, National Collegiate Volleyball Federation poll, was led by sophomore Dane Maier (Middleton, Wis.), who had 16 kills. Senior Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill.) had a team-high nine blocks and senior setter Chris Kubacki had 44 assists to lead the Muskies.
The Muskies return to action Saturday, Feb. 12, as they travel to Menomonie, Wis. to face WVC opponent UW-Stout. The match begins at 3 p.m.
