Muskies drops first game in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Lakeland College softball team dropped its opening game, 9-1, to Southwestern University (Texas) at the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., Sunday afternoon.

Junior Leah Sheahan (Salem, Wis.) went 1-for-2 and recorded an RBI. Sophomore Heather Haeflinger (Shawano, Wis.) also went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The Muskies (0-1) struck-out 10 times, but head coach Chad Buchmann was impressed with the team defensively. Lakeland held Southwestern scoreless until the fifth inning, but the Pirates scored a run in the fifth and found themselves in great position with the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
