Lakeland collects first shutout in win over Cougars

The Lakeland College baseball team won its second consecutive game on Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over University of Minnesota-Morris.
While the Muskies (3-1) didn't receive another huge offensive output, they did continue to pitch well and play solid defense.
Sophomore right-hander, Andy Chitwood (Muscoda, Wis.), gave Lakeland yet another stellar pitching performance. Chitwood pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits, two walks, and recorded four strikeouts. Junior first baseman Erik Kozey (Medford, Wis.) completed the shutout, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
At the plate, the Muskies tally one run each inning from the second through the sixth. Ryan Boettcher (Bonduel, Wis.) led the way for the Muskies again, going 2-4 and scoring three runs, one in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Kozey did some damage with the bat as well, going 2-4 with two RBI's, both scoring Boettcher. The other Muskie to collect two hits on the day was senior catcher David Novak (Algoma, Wis.) who when 2-3 with an RBI and a walk.

The Muskies return to the diamond Thursday, March 17, as they battle Knox College at the Gene Cusic Classic. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
