The Lakeland College men's soccer team came up scoreless in a 0-0 tie against Northland International University in nonconference action Thursday evening at Muskie Field. 
The Muskies (1-0-1) and the Pioneers (1-0-1) each missed scoring opportunities in a rugged game. The play between the two teams was evenly matched with neither taking complete control. The Pioneers outshot Lakeland, 16-11, and 45 fouls were called between the two teams.
Senior midfielder Adam Benson (Anoka, Minn.) led the team with four shots, while senior midfielder Craig Dekarske (Sheboygan) recorded three.
Junior goalkeeper Alex Piekarski (Menasha) registered his first shutout of the year and made six saves.

Lakeland returns to nonconference action on Saturday, Sept. 10, as they host the University of Chicago. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. at Muskie Field.
