Senior forward Lindsay Rogers scored the Muskies' lone goal in a 4-1 non-conference loss against Lawrence University Sunday afternoon in Appleton, Wis.
Lakeland (3-4, 2-0) ends the week with a 1-2 recor
d, but remains undefeated in the Northern Athletics Conference after a thrilling 9-2 win against Rockford College yesterday.
The Vikings earned their second win of the season behind two goals from Keli Muchowski. Lawrence struck first at the 39:23 mark off a corner kick and tallied another goal in the 44th minute to give the team a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Lawrence wouldn't go quiet, scoring just after the half at the 47:13 mark of play. Rogers (Sheboygan) finally answered in the 50th minute as she got behind the Vikings' defense to net her eighth goal of the season.
The Vikings scored again in the 56th minute to earn the non-conference win.
"We did okay today," said head coach Tony Pierce. "We needed to take care of their top scorer, but we struggled to do that and she hurt us. We didn't slow her down enough and the score reflects that."
Lakeland returns to Northern Athletics Conference action on Sept. 20 as they host Concordia University Wisconsin. Game time is slated for 4:30 p.m. in Plymouth, Wis.
