The Lakeland College women's soccer team came up short in a 4-0 loss to Aurora University in Northern Athletics Conference action Saturday afternoon.
The first-place Spartans jumped on the Muskies (4-11, 3-6 NAC) at the 10:12 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Aurora capped two more goals before the half to edge Lakeland 3-0.
The Muskies slowed down the Spartans offense in the second half as they held them to just one goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Streeter (Oakfield) recorded nine saves as she faced 32 shots.
"I thought the women played well," said head coach Tony Pierce. "It was unfortunate that a couple of their goals were on our mistakes, but Aurora is a good team and good teams make you pay for your mistakes. We tightened things up in the second half and did a much better job defensively."
The Muskies return to NAC action on Oct. 18 as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on the Raiders of MSOE. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Uihlein.
