Raiders' early goals cost Muskies in conference loss

Athletics - posted on 10/18/2011

The Lakeland College women's soccer team couldn't find a rhythm in a 5-0 loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering Tuesday night at Uihlein Soccer Park.

The Raiders took advantage of a lethargic Muskie team in the first half as they scored twice to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Muskies' (4-13, 3-7) attack was slowed by MSOE's high-pressure defense.

In the second half the Raiders combined for three goals for the Northern Athletics Conference victory.

"We started a little slow tonight," said head coach Tony Pierce. "We got down early in the game and things just didn't go our way. When we settled down and passed the ball, we played well, but MSOE made it difficult for us to find a rhythm."

Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Streeter (Oakfield) recorded 14 saves.

Lakeland returns to NAC action on Oct. 22 as they host Wisconsin Lutheran College on senior and parent's day. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
