- ABOUT LAKELAND

The Lakeland College baseball team finished their season on a high note as they swept Edgewood College on Saturday.
The Muskies (16-19, 11-11 NAC) finished the season winning eight straight conference games as they beat the Eagles 1-0 and 4-0.
Lakeland Senior Matt Katzman (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) got the ball in game one and went out on top as he pitched a complete game, allowing just six hits and striking out five in his final collegiate start.
Katzman got all the offensive support he needed in the first inning as junior Mike Ruzek (Manitowoc, Wis.) doubled home senior catcher David Novak (Algoma, Wis.).
The Muskies got just three hits but made them count as Ruzek went 2-3 with an RBI and Novak was 1-4 with a run scored.
In game two, Ruzek showed how dominant the Lakeland pitching staff can be as he threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out nine.
The Muskies got a little more offense in game two as they totaled nine hits. Andrew "Woody" Schartner (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) got Lakeland on the board early with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The bats would go quiet again until the seventh when Ruzek drove in Schartner and senior Jeremy Meier (Sauk City, Wis.) to give the Muskies a 3-0 lead.
The Muskies would add another in the eighth for the 4-0 victory.
Schartner led the Muskies attack going 2-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Ruzek was 1-4 with two RBI's and junior Erik Kozey was 2-3.
