Muskies fall to Eagles in first round of NAC tournament

The Lakeland College women's volleyball team lost in the first round of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament on Tuesday night, suffering a 3-0 (13-25, 16-25, 17-25) loss to second-seeded Benedictine University.

The Muskies finish the 2011 season with an overall record of 9-21, including a 6-6 conference record.

Senior Allison Davis had a team-high six kills, while sophomore Anna Faust led the team with 10 digs. Sophomore Katie Freitag added five blocks and had the team's only ace.

"We lacked defensive intensity tonight," said Lakeland head coach Jon Staabs. "They took advantage of our lack of intensity and were the better team on the court tonight. They just wanted it more than we did."
