The Lakeland College wrestling team suffered a heartbreaking 22-21 dual loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in Northern Wrestling Association action Wednesday night in the Wehr Center Fieldhouse

After Lakeland dropped its first two matches of the night, the Muskies battled back and won five straight matches to take a 21-10 lead with only three matches left. The Falcons used two decisions and a pin fall to earn a 22-21 victory over Lakeland, their first since Jan. 12, 2005.

Senior Robby Frias (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and junior Ryan Renon (Wrightstown) led the Muskies battle, as Frias earned a 10-1 major decision over Tim Grimm at the 149-pound weight class. Renon gave Lakeland a huge five-point margin when he earned his sixth technical fall of the year, this time a 17-1 decision over Casey Kenealy at 165.

Sophomore Brent Steudel (Hortonville) and freshmen Juan Diaz (Park Ridge, Ill.) and David Galarno (New Holstein) also earned victories for the Muskies. Diaz earned a forfeit at 141, while Steudel earned a 9-5 decision over Ricky Burns at 157. At 174, Galarno came from behind to earn a 9-5 decision over Jordan Semevolos.
