- ABOUT LAKELAND

After a tough loss on Saturday against nationally ranked Dominican the Muskies were ready for the next step. Lakeland came out strong and put away their first goal at the 9 minute mark when Scott Kress (Kiel) won a 50/50 ball over the Pioneers goalkeeper to dribble the ball into the back of the net. This goal put the Muskies in control of the first half. The second half was a battle of energy. The Pioneers came out strong and determined to put one away. Sam Thompson finished his header off of a corner kick at the 79 minute mark to tie the game.
This goal put the game into double overtime. Both teams were battling back and fourth with as much physical ability as possible. The tie ended the game with both teams struggling off the field.
The Muskies next match will be at UW Oshkosh at 2 p.m. on September 18, 2004.
