The Lakeland College softball team extended its current win streak to seven with a pair of wins, including an 8-1 win in game one and a 10-4 win in game two, over Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Northern Athletics Conference action Thursday evening.

The 9-7 Muskies look to finish the week 6-0 when they host Edgewood College on Saturday. The sweep over Maranatha Baptist makes it 11 games until head coach Chad Buchmann breaks Lakeland's all-time wins record.

In game one, strong pitching and a solid offense allowed the Muskies to record 10 hits and five RBIs. Junior center fielder Heather Haeflinger led the team with a triple, while junior Erin Henk went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored, and earned her second save of the season.

Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Zimmerman earned her third victory of the season and now sits with a 3-3 record. Zimmerman posted five strikeouts while giving up six hits.

In game two, Henk led Lakeland on the mound with eight strikeouts, and proved her offensive abilities when she hit a triple. Senior Leah Sheahan and freshman Kaitlyn Hoffmann both went 2-for-3, while junior McKenna Wenzel went 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored.
