Junior Jake Schwarz and sophomore Justin Ward recorded double-doubles to lead the Lakeland College men's basketball team to a season sweep over Marian University in a 91-65 victory in Northern Athletics Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Schwarz (Sheboygan) finished the night with a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Ward (Wisconsin Dells) finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The 17-6 Muskies controlled the entire first half of play and opened the game on a 6-0 run that they extended to 16 points at the 5:25 mark. The Sabres (9-14,6-9 NAC) cut the lead to nine, but Lakeland ended the half on another 6-0 run to take a 46-31 advantage at halftime.
The second half was all Lakeland as Marian couldn't find an answer for the hot-shooting Muskies. Senior Josh Regal (Suring) helped extend Lakeland's lead to 26 in the second half behind a 16-point performance on the night.
Lakeland had a big, physical presence in the paint and scored 46 points, while only giving up 18.
Cody Veleke and Sam Koslowski led the Sabres with 18 points apiece.
