Muskies picked eighth in NAC poll

Athletics - posted on 8/26/2011

The Lakeland College women's golf team has been selected to finish eighth in the Northern Athletics Conference coaches' poll, the league announced Friday.

The Muskies earned 50 points in the preseason poll after not finishing as a team in last year's NAC Championship.

Three-time defending NAC champion Concordia University Wisconsin was the favorite again this fall, earning 10 first-place votes and 164 overall points. Edgewood College grabbed the No. 2 spot with one first-place vote and 147 points.

Five members of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference will compete as associate members of the NAC this fall. The NAC championship will be expanded to a three-round, 54-hole event to meet NCAA requirements. This year's championship will be held Oct. 2-4 at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago, Ill.
