The Lakeland College men's volleyball team defeated the visiting University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers, 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-18) on Tuesday night.
The Muskies (2-2, 2-2 WVC) dominated in all phases and gained momentum as they prepare for the Midwest 10 play day this weekend.
In game one, the Muskies had 16 kills and six errors on 37 attempts (.270). In game two, Lakeland tallied 14 kills
and four errors on 27 attempts (.370) and then totaled 12 kills and six errors on 26 attempts (.231) in game three to seal the victory. In all, the Muskies amassed 42 kills and 16 errors in 90 attempts for a .289 hitting percentage.
Lakeland was led by freshman outside hitter Alec Redlich (Wauwatosa, Wis.), who tied a single-match record with 23 kills in 38 attempts with just seven errors. Redlich was also big up front, tallying six blocks. Fellow freshman, setter Dayton Erickson (Trevor, Wis.), had 34 assists and four digs.
Senior libero Andrew Cheever (Greenfield, Wis.) added eight digs to his career total, while Redlich and freshman Cole Aiazzi (Yerington, Nev.) each had five digs.
Lakeland returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4, as the Muskies travel to Marquette University to take part in the MIVA Midwest 10 play day. Lakeland will play six games, starting with a 9:30 a.m. contest against defending National Champion UW-Oshkosh.
