Muskies fall to Warhawks in five

The Lakeland College men's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 24-26, 13-15) setback against Wisconsin Volleyball Conference foe, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday night.

The Muskies (4-7, 2-3 WVC) showed hints of brilliance, but failed to finish and ultimately couldn't overcome their mistakes.

Lakeland was led offensively by freshman outside hitter Alec Redlich (Wauwatosa, Wis.) who had a team-high 22 kills and six aces. Senior middle hitter Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill.) finished with 12 kills, while freshman setter Dayton Erickson tallied 42 assists and added three aces.

The Lakeland defense tallied a total 50 digs, but it wasn't enough to get the win.

"We still aren't finishing matches," said Lakeland head coach Joe Julkowski. "We are playing great when are at our best, however, our low is very low. We get timid when other teams get fired up. We have to learn to play hard 100 percent of the time, especially when it's 13-13 in the final game."

Lakeland returns to the court on Sunday, Feb. 12, as the Muskies travel to face WVC opponent UW-La Crosse. The match begins at 2 p.m.
