Men’s Soccer Coasts in 3-0 Triumph over Wisconsin Lutheran; Scott Kress leads with 2 goals and 1 assist

The Lakeland College Men’s Soccer team opened up Lake Michigan Conference play with a solid 3-0 victory against the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran. Kiel product Scott Kress led the way with 2 goals and 1 assist. With the win, Lakeland improves to 4-7-1 overall and 1-0 in the LMC.
Lakeland dominated much of the action in a foul riddled first half. The Muskies fired off 8 shots on goal in the period while holding their opponent to just one.
Kress opened the scoring in the 29th minute when he slotted home a goal off a Shuaib Basheer (Dubai, UAE) assist. Kress would score just 3 minutes later on a great thru ball from senior forward Charlie Van Ginkle (Niagara). That would be all the scoring in the first frame as the Muskies went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Freshman midfielder Chris Christopherson (Kiel) scored his first collegiate goal off a Kress assist in the 52nd minute to give the Muskies a 3-0 win.
Junior goalkeeper Joe Silverberg(South Bend, Indiana) earned the shutout totaling 3 saves on the day.
The Muskies will return to action on Tuesday, October 5th when they travel to Milwaukee to play conference foe MSOE at at Uihlein Soccer Complex.
