Muskies fall one spot, finish seventh in NAC

The Lakeland College men's golf team finished the fourth round of the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Golf Championship with a team score of 339, the seventh best score of the day.

The Muskies finished the Championship in seventh place overall, shooting a combined 1,367, more than 100 strokes behind Edgewood College, which shot a combined 1,251 to claim its second consecutive NAC title.

Individually, seniors Ben Laubusch (Germantown, Wis.) and Brain Balistierri (New Berlin, Wis.) finished strong, each securing spots in the top 20. Laubusch carded a fourth-round 85, bringing his Championship total to 335, tied for 12th. Balistierri carded an 88 in his final round, finishing with a 345 for the Championship, good for 19th.

Two other Lakeland golfers finished in the top 30, led by Ryan Newburry (Campbellsport, Wis.), who had Lakeland's best round on Monday, shooting an 82 to finish with a 348, in 22nd place. Tyler Kubicek (Madison, Wis.) carded a 92 in his final round, with a Championship total of 358, good for 28th place.

The Muskies will have to find replacements for their steady seniors as Lakeland heads into the offseason with high expectations for next season.
