Muskies win home finale, defeat MSOE in conference dual

Matt Weber (So.-Lockport, Ill.) and Jeremy Kroeger (So.-Villa Park, Ill.) recorded wins by fall and the Lakeland College wrestling team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 38-6 in a Northern Wrestling Association dual match Friday night.

The Muskies wrestled in the Woltzen Gymnasium and won eight of ten matches to improve to 2-0 in NWA dual matches this year. Lakeland also moved to 5-3 overall in duals this season and was victorious on Senior Night for Joel Frias (Oak Lawn, Ill.), the lone senior on this year's team.

Weber won by pin over Russell Carey at 165 lbs. and Kroeger finished the match with a win over James Kuczynski at 197 lbs. Lakeland also got a pair of major decisions, as Marcus McCauley (Fr.-Hillpoint, Wis.) defeated Nick Miceli by a 14-1 score at 141 lbs. and Jacob Maechtle (So.-Port Washington, Wis.) defeated Dallas Schurg 17-7.

The Muskies also grabbed some hard-earned wins at the heavier weights, as Wesley Colton (Fr.-Machesney Park, Ill.) defeated Kyle Perea 5-1 and Eddie Terres (Fr.-Escanaba, Mich.) followed with a 7-2 defeat of Dylan Allison at 183 lbs.

Lakeland also added forfeit wins at 125 lbs. and 285 lbs. MSOE scored its two wins in the lighter classes, as Austin Binish won by 6-3 decision over Eduardo Orihuela (So.-Menominee, Mich.) at 133 lbs. and Matt Ostovich edged James Parker (Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) 4-1 at 149 lbs.

The Muskies return to the mat for a dual on Thursday against Concordia University Wisconsin at 7 p.m. in Mequon.
