The Lakeland College football team opens its Northern Athletics Conference schedule Saturday when it travels to face Wisconsin Lutheran College on the Warriors' Homecoming at 1 p.m. at Raabe Stadium in Milwaukee.
Lakeland enters with a 0-3 record and last week suffered a 49-9 loss to Carthage. Wisconsin Lutheran comes in with a 2-1 record and was idle last week after losing 31-23 to Adrian (Mich.) in the MIAA-NAC Challenge on Sept. 15.
Lakeland and Wisconsin Lutheran are meeting for just the sixth time, with five of the meetings coming since both schools joined the NAC for football in 2008. The Muskies hold a 4-1 series lead that includes a 20-7 win last year on Lakeland's Homecoming. Dylan Van Straten threw for 158 yards and a touchdown and also rushed 27 times for 89 yards and another score, and the Muskie defense held the Warriors to 232 yards of offense. Wisconsin Lutheran's lone win in the series came in 2010, a 20-9 win in Milwaukee.
Lakeland Athletics has partnered with Stretch Internet and will be providing its first-ever online audio broadcast of a Muskie sporting event on Saturday at http://www.lakeland.edu/muskieslive, with Lakeland Sports Information Director Adam Glatczak calling the play-by-play.
