Ward is latest Muskie of the Week after big performance at Benedictine

Justin Ward (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.), a 6-9 forward on the Muskie men's basketball team, is the latest winner of the Muskie of the Week award

Ward receives the honor after a big game Saturday in Lakeland's 87-80 win over Benedictine (Ill.) University. He finished with a season-high 32 points, hitting 15 of 22 shots from the field, and also added six rebounds and two steals. Twenty-one of his points came in the first half as the Muskies took a 42-35 halftime lead, then built a substantial lead in the second half before withstanding a Benedictine rally.

Including a win over Edgewood College earlier in the week, Ward averaged 22 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last week and shot 61.8% over two games. For the season, Ward is averaging 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He currently leads the Northern Athletics Conference in blocks per game, ranks second behind teammate Jake Schwarz (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) in scoring, and also is tied for sixth in the conference in rebounding.
