Lakeland College has named Ty Arras as its new head women's golf coach.
Arras has served as the Lakeland women's basketball graduate assistant coach the past two years. In both of his new roles he replaces Britni Fett, Lakeland's former women's golf coach and top women's basketball assistant. Fett recently took the head women's basketball coaching job at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
A native of Entiat, Wash., Arras came to Lakeland in 2011 after two years as an assistant coach at alma mater Entiat High School. In 2010-11, Arras helped the Lady Tigers to a 19-6 record with an appearance in the Washington state Class 2B regionals. The previous year, Arras helped the Entiat boy's team to a 20-5 record and an appearance at State in Class 2B.
Arras received a bachelor's degree in communication from Washington State University, where he also served as a men's basketball student manager from 2006-2009. His duties included helping with video coordinating, filming practice and games, as well as day-to-day tasks in the office.
Arras will complete his master's degree in counseling from Lakeland in August.
