My summer internship!

My summer internship was an amazing experience. I worked full-time for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay.
I worked mainly under the executive director, and she was a perfect supervisor. She was very candid in describing the ins-n-outs of the position and organization, and she gave me every opportunity to experience new scenarios and responsibilities.
The most important project that I completed was within the strategic planning process. It was my job to gather information from external stakeholders. I did so by finalizing a survey and calling list and then calling stakeholders to set up appointments. I completed about half of the surveys in person. The visits were very beneficial for me to learn how to interact with and interview professionals in the name of an entity. Also, since I interviewed many other nonprofit professionals, I was able to go to their organizations and see a wide variety of nonprofit offices and facilities. For surveys that I couldn’t conduct in person with an interview, I simply sent the survey by mail. After 50+ surveys, I tallied the statistical information and wrote a narrative to explain the qualitative results.
Besides the survey process, I also attended many interagency meetings. It was amazing seeing the cooperation that takes place between organizations. I like how they have learned to collaborate their resources to serve local needs without having to create an entirely new organization.
I was also able to assist in an ethics training session for the organization’s managers. Catholic Charities USA has a Code of Ethics which I studied and reviewed. Then, with the help of CCUSA’s toolkit about its code, I was able to present an introduction of the Code and provide suggestions for training the entire staff.
Beyond these things, I did much more- but no need to explain! You get the idea.
