A lot-a bit of fun in Krueger

Have I said before that I love Krueger Hall? So far this year has been quite different than other years( and nothing against years past cuz it’s all been wonderful otherwise I wouldn’t keep coming back!), but living in Krueger this year truly puts a smile on my face. There are no returning staff members to Krueger from previous Krueger staff members, and there is an exceptional mix of backgrounds and personalities among the residents. It may very well be that it is my final semester in the hall as to why things seem “better”, but no matter what the reason- I can’t complain!

My staff is really wonderful. We all have different interests and personalities, but we get along really well and hang out together on a regular basis. We’ve done a lot of decorating and program planning as a team, and I really think that the team effort has been better for both us and the residents. Our new Hall Director, Kati, is both really great at her job and a whole lot of fun to be around. We have Wacky Wednesday nights for the staff every other week as a get-together with snacks and chit chat, and just last Sunday we all went out to dinner at the new Texas Roadhouse in Sheboygan and ate way too much.

As far as the hall itself is, there is definitely more noise and more boys this year compared to in the past, but all of the ladies of Krueger have been handling most everything very responsibly. There is a certain energy that is within the hall, and I feel it every time that I am in Krueger. Doors are open a lot more often this year, and residents visit a lot from room-to-room.  There is especially great interaction on 2nd floor this year between domestic students and international students, and I really feel like all residents are learning a lot from one another.

I have also already had several very successful programs this year, and most of them are repeats of past programs that I’ve done. The Make-Your-Own “Where Am I?” board program brought residents together early in the semester. Milk, Cookies, and Conversation had a great number of people stop in Krueger’s main lounge for a social with many female staff members. And, just the other night, I had a floor program in the 2nd floor lounge for the Packers-Vikings game, and whoever said that women don’t like football was mistaken. We were all loud and excited during the game, and a few residents who didn’t know much about football learned more.

There is much more to come as I live out my last 2 months in Krueger. After 3 full years, it’s hard to believe it’s going to come to an end so soon, but I know , from how things have been so far, that there’s still going to be a lot-a bit of fun in KR before I go!
