Las Vegas Vacation!
Posted on 8/15/2011 8:37:00 AM

Hey all.

Just wanted to talk about my vacation in Las Vegas a little bit. I left on Thursday, August 4th from the Milwaukee airport at around 9pm. We arrived late in Vegas and arrived at the place we were staying at around 1am. With how excited I was to see all the beautiful lights on the strip and drive through the strip and see all the hotels and casinos and crazy people, I'm surprised I slept at all Thursday night.

When I woke up on Friday morning, 9:00am Vegas time (11am WI time) I showered and got ready to hit the golf course. I was staying with my friend Emily's aunt and uncle (she was also with me on the trip) and I went golfing with her uncle and a few of his friends. The golf course was beautiful, a place called the Red Rock Country Club, and the weather was amazing as well. It was about 90 degrees at our tee time of 11:05am and got up to about 105 through the day. I didn't golf that well, but for not knowing the course, not being able to use my own clubs, and just not being able to golf often I played pretty well. After golf we went back to the house and got showered up and ready to head out to dinner. We decided to eat at a Japanese restaurant, one of those where they cook right in front of you. It was pretty cool. Our cook, Ken, was really funny and he was making some pretty cool things on the grill as he was cooking. The food was also pretty darn good. (: After dinner we went to the strip and drove down it so I was able to take a few pictures of all the lights on the hotels and casinos at night. It was really exciting!

On Saturday we slept in a little bit and we just relaxed for most of the morning. In the early part of the afternoon we went to the strip and we walked into Caesar's Palace, The Venetian, and The Bellagio to see the hotel design, the casinos, and everything that was available inside the huge hotels. It was really something cool to see. I had NO idea that there was so much inside those places in addition to the rooms. I sure was wrong. After taking tons of pictures and seeing how cool the hotels were we went back to the house to get ready for the concert we were going to later that evening. We got ready and went out to dinner at a place called the Yard House which was located inside the Red Rock Hotel. After dinner we went out to the stage area where the Toby Keith concert was to be held. We missed the first opening singer for the concert but when we arrived Eric Church was performing before Toby Keith. The concert was amazing, probably the best I have ever been to, and we had a great time. Just a side note though, people from WI can definitely outdrink people from Vegas! haha

Sunday was a pretty chill day. We woke up and went to brunch at a place called the Draft House. This place was cool. On the outside it looked like a big barn and on the inside it was decorated with Packer, Badger, and Brewer stuff. It was basically a big Wisconsin restaurant. It served brats and everything we were used to at home. Just a cool place to see. After brunch we went back to the house we were staying at and we just had a pool day. It was really relaxing and just nice to be out in the sun all day.

Monday we slept in again and after we were up and ready we went to the Hoover Dam. That was really cool to see. They just finished a new bridge that people can take to get from Nevada to Arizona without having to drive over the Dam, and that was cool to see done. We went down to the Dam and we took some pictures and it was just amazing to see how large the Dam was. I was impressed. I joked because I saw the new Transformers movie and said that was the reason the Dam was built, the people I was with didn't see the movie so they didn't understand, but I thought it was funny haha.

Finally, Tuesday we just relaxed in the pool and hung out one last time before we left for the airport at 10 that night. Our flight was scheduled for 11:59pm but it was delayed and we didn't take off until 12:30am. We arrived back in Milwaukee about 6:00am and I was at work by 9:00am so that made for a long day but that vacation excitement kept me going through the work day.

I had an amazing time in Vegas and I was so happy that I was able to go. I would recommend that anyone who hasn't been there check it out, even if you don't do any gambling or anything while you are there, it is still a really cool place to see. (:

Hope you enjoyed hearing about my vacation...if you ave any cool vacation stories I'd like to hear that as well. (:

Until next time.
