Baseball, Softball Teams Take on Spring Break

After practicing indoors in the Wehr Center field for the last few months, the Lakeland College baseball and softball teams will finally get the chance to put their talent and team chemistry to the test during their respective spring break tournaments.

Both squads will leave the frigid cold of Wisconsin for 10 games apiece in the warmth and sunshine of Florida and Arizona from Mar. 11-16.

Mitch Heinemeyer

The Lakeland baseball team is grateful for the return of the Shiocton native, as the 5-foot-11 senior third baseman led the squad at the plate last season with seven home runs, 20 doubles and scored 32 runs hitting .299.

A former all-conference performer in football, basketball and baseball in high school, Mitch is also close to cracking Lakeland's record books for career doubles and career home runs.

Katie Yeager

As the only senior on the team this year, the Muskies will rely on the 5-foot-7 catcher for strong leadership on the field from her position behind the plate.

Last season, the Shawano, Wis., native started all but one of the 37 games she appeared in and tallied four doubles on a .233 batting average.
