Lakeland Graduate Teri Johnson Named New Head Women's Basketball Coach

Homecoming will be a bit early this year for Teri Johnson.

Lakeland College announced last week that Johnson, a 2000 Lakeland graduate and former basketball and softball standout, has been named the Muskies' new head women's basketball coach.

Erich Steinhaus

The 6-foot-2 senior outside hitter/defensive specialist helped guide the Muskies to their first-ever Wisconsin Volleyball Conference regular-season and tournament championship titles on Saturday.

Known to his teammates as "E-Rich," the Mundelein, Ill., native contributed towards helping his squad easily knock out four WVC opponents in a row on Friday and Saturday to complete pool play and win the regular-season crown.

Brett Nelson

The 6-foot senior catcher has stepped up to become a force behind the plate for the Muskies this year, not only filling the role as the squad's starting catcher, but succeeding at bat as well.

"Nelley" is currently third on the team in hitting at .314, and second on the team in hits with 16, including five doubles and one home run so far this season.

Lakeland Wins WVC Tournament

The Lakeland College men's volleyball team took the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Tournament title with a win over rival UW-Oshkosh 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) on Saturday, Apr. 7, at Lakeland.

The Muskies (41-7, 13-1 WVC), who clinched the WVC regular-season title earlier in the day, opened with a 2-0 win over No. 8 seeded UW-Stevens Point, 2-0 (25-15, 25-7), in the quarterfinals.
