Muskies slip to 0-2 with tough loss to Carthage

Missed opportunities haunted the Lakeland College football team as Carthage scored late to escape with a 21-14 win in the Muskies' 2006 home opener at Taylor Field on Saturday afternoon.
After surviving two Lakeland drives in the fourth quarter, Carthage (2-0) went on an 11-play scoring drive, capped by a 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brennan O'Boyle to fullback Greg Spencer to give the Red Men the lead with just nine seconds to play.
With the game tied at 14, the Muskies had two promising drives stall in the fourth quarter, including one early in the period that saw Lakeland get to Carthage 's 14 yard line. Junior quarterback Brad Wilk couldn't connect with freshman receiver Isiah Calhoun on a fourth-down pass play.

Ann
Lehecka

One of top scorers for the Muskies, tying for second on the team in goals scored during both 2004 and 2005 and receiving Honorable Mention All-LMC honors for those efforts, Ann returns as a fifth-year senior for another run at an NCAA tournament appearance.
Known to her teammates as "Snowboarder," it is no secret that Ann's athletic talents extend beyond the soccer field, as she says one of her greatest moments in sports was taking her snowboarding talents to Nationals.

The senior captain had to make an adjustment this year, moving from the offensive ranks to the backfield line. Sam, who hails from Monticello, Minn., has been a consistent starter and vocal leader for the Muskies throughout his career.
"Sam brings a lot of positive direction to the field in helping the guys out," said head coach Dave Madsen. "His leadership abilities will help him reach his full potential because he is always trying to make himself and everyone else around him better."
