Football Rolls Over MacMurray, 49-18

The Lakeland College football team remained perfect in Illini-Badger Football Conference play with a 49-18 win over MacMurray Saturday at Taylor Field in Sheboygan, Wis.


The win sets up a showdown next Saturday, Oct. 20, in Mequon against rival and co-IBFC leader Concordia, Wis., in the annual Cheese Bowl, with the winner gaining sole possession of first place with two weeks to play. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Phil Sims

The 5-foot-11 senior has been a big help for the Muskies this year at outside linebacker, starting six of the squad's seven games with 11 total tackles.

The Kansas City, Kan., native helped Lakeland's defense to another solid showing on Saturday in a 49-18 win over MacMurry, as the Muskies improved to a perfect 4-0 in the Illini-Badger Football Conference.

Shelly Bruni

The 5-foot-9 senior middle hitter has become one of the Muskies' most reliable offensive threats this season, leading the team in hitting percentage with .284, good for seventh in the Northern Athletics Conference.

The Juneau, Wis., native continued to produce steady efforts at the net this past weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational, racking up team-highs in kills with 12 against UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater.

Women's Soccer Posts Third Straight NAC Win with Shutout over Alverno

The Lakeland College women's soccer team claimed an 8-0 shutout victory over Northern Athletics Conference opponent Alverno College on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Lakeland to improve its conference record to 5-3 with their third straight win.

The Muskies (6-9 overall) came out firing in the first half, going up 3-0 within the first 20 minutes of play. Senior midfielder Lola Engel tallied two of those goals, while senior defender Elisa Waltz scored the remaining first half goal on an assist by sophomore midfielder Jessica Hopfinger.
