Lakeland Gets a Look at New Conference Football Schedule

Lakeland College and rest of the Northern Athletics Conference got its first look at NAC football Wednesday when the 2008 league schedule was announced.

The Illini-Badger Football Conference will cease to exist after this season. IBFC members Lakeland, Aurora, Benedictine, Concordia, Wis., and Concordia-Chicago will join Wisconsin Lutheran, Maranatha Baptist and Rockford in the NAC, which made its debut last season when most of the schools from the Lake Michigan Conference and Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference merged.

The 5-foot-10 freshman goalkeeper has gained valuable experience during his first collegiate season between the posts, improving with each passing game.

The Fond du Lac native recorded eight saves last week, bringing him up to the No. 6 spot in the Northern Athletics Conference for saves at 59 (4.21 pg).

The 5-foot-7 senior defender has continued to be a major asset to the Muskies in the backfield this fall, often acting as the final line of defense between the attacker and the goalkeeper.

A native of Hustisford and one of the squad's co-captains, Kelly's steady play has also been big reason why the Muskies are still in the running for a Northern Athletics Conference Tournament appearance with two games to go.

Women's Volleyball Clinches Regular Season NAC Title

The Lakeland College women's volleyball team clinched the Northern Athletics Conference regular season crown on Friday, Oct. 12, with a 3-0 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wis.

"Winning conference has become an expected accomplishment for this program," said head coach Chad Schreiber. "It's nice that we were able to get back to that this year, and it really means a lot to our seniors because this is what they are used to as well."
