Condon Turns Heads with Goalkeeping Skills

Lakeland College head men's soccer coach Dave Madsen had a big problem at the start of the 2006 season - he was without a goalkeeper.

This quandary forced the first-year coach to convert one of his field players to fill the vacancy, even though none of them had any previous goalkeeping experience.

Enter junior Ryan Condon, whose positive work ethic and determination made him the perfect candidate for the job.

The junior midfielder has been vital to the Muskies this year, as her sharp ball control in the middle and speedy offensive drives helped the squad earn a place in the inaugural Northern Athletics Conference Tournament. Although Lakeland was downed by Dominican, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 28, in the first game of tournament play, "E" made her offensive presence known by leading the team in shots on goal with two.

"She leads by example," head coach Dave Madsen said of the Oakfield native. "

"Theo" closed out the season with four goals and three assists, tying him with Kevin Fitchett for most goals on the team and with Ryan Malo for most assists. The Green Bay native also finished first on the team in total points this season with 11.
