Men's Basketball Looks to Excel Under New Head Coach

The Lakeland College men's basketball team is coming off a year of great success: winning the final regular season Lake Michigan Conference Championship with a 21-6 record, the team's best finish since 1994, and sweeping the LMC's top three individual awards.

However, this is a new season full of lots "new" things, specifically a new coach and a new style of play.

Kyle Brumett joins the Muskies as head coach, replacing Gary Grzesk who left for St. Norbert. Brumett, the top assistant at DePauw University for the past seven seasons, has laid a number of goals on the table for the team.

Ringeisen

The senior tight end capped off his football career this season with 66 total yards rushing for 11.0 yards per game in six games played, which could earn him All-Illini Badger Football Conference recognition.

"After rotating for time last year, he worked extremely hard to make himself a starter at tight end this year," said head coach Jim Zebrowski of Ringeisen's hard-nosed work ethic.

The 6-foot-4 sophomore has been an integral part of the Muskies' defensive line this season with 24 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles for 33 total.

He was also second on the team in tackles for a loss, racking up 40 yards for a loss on nine tackles, and third on the team in sacks with seven. The Scotland native's hard-fought efforts could make him a prime candidate for All-Illini Badger Football Conference recognition.
