The Great Lakes Writers Festival is held annually at Lakeland College, and is always
free and open to the public. The event is hosted by Karl Elder, Lakeland's Fessler Professor of Creative Writing, and provides seasoned and emerging writers the opportunity to talk with peers, to discuss their work, and to learn from the pros in workshops. To register for the festival, email

In addition to participating in all workshops, alumni and friends are invited to attend a complimentary reception and reading by the featured writers! This years featured writers are David Lehman and Stacey Harwood.

The reception and reading are free of charge, but registration is required.
