Since its founding in 1862, Lakeland College has been dedicated to expanding access to higher education to people willing to sacrifice personal time and resources to earn their degree. That's why in 1978 Lakeland developed an evening and weekend program to accommodate the education needs of working adults. Today, with all of the educational options flexibility doesn't sound like a big deal but for that time it was. Lakeland was one of the first in the nation to expand beyond what was considered the "traditional" college setting and offer working adults an accredited educational program. We did it again in the 2000s when we began to deliver courses through our BlendEd platform. But, that's just the Lakeland way — finding ways to be there for motivated students.
