Sheboygan County Christian senior Matthew Seider, one of three members of Lakeland College’s inaugural class of Sheboygan County Scholars, was all smiles as he celebrated with family, friends and administrators from both schools during a ceremonial scholarship signing event at Christian High School. Music aficionados who gathered at Lakeland’s Bradley Theatre on Monday night were treated to a crisp, high-energy musical doubleheader. The Small Ensembles Concert featured dynamic back-to-back performances by the Frauenchor (women’s choir) and the Jazz Ensemble. The Frauenchor concert, conducted by Lakeland Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Daniel David Black, included three pieces and featured soprano Tia Pribbernow. When Lakeland College Director of Financial Aid Patty Taylor set up an impromptu department meeting, Vicky Milbrath had no clue what was about to happen. There was no meeting. More than 375 top-notch pieces of art were unveiled in the Bradley Gallery on Friday afternoon during the opening of the 2014-15 Lakeland College Student Art Exhibition. The event began with a “wearable art” demonstration, then moved on to the awards. Mark Holzman, who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lakeland College, has been named superintendent of the Manitowoc Public School District.   Holzman comes to Manitowoc from the Sheboygan Area School District, where he worked as an administrator for six years, most recently as the assistant superintendent of student and instructional services.   After earning his Lakeland bachelor’s degree in 1991, he began his education career in 1994 as a social studies teacher.
