Fantastic Fiction!, an event that featured nine Lakeland College writing students reading this semester’s best work to peers, family members and friends, lived up to its name earlier this week. “If you haven’t done this before, it’s not easy,” Lakeland Professor of Writing Jeff Elzinga said about reading one’s work out loud in front of others. Lakeland College sophomore Luke Runge walked into Charlie Krebs’ Bradley Building office, looked around the crowded room and asked, “What’s going on?” Gathered in the office in addition to Krebs – Lakeland’s associate professor of theatre and speech – were Lakeland College Manager of Student Employment Rose Provencher along with Runge’s girlfriend and others. Thanks to a generous donation by Lakeland alumni Dr. Jolson Ng, prize money was awarded to the top three finishers. The two-hour competition, open to students with at least Calculus II under their belts, consisted of students solving the integration of calculus problems in five minutes or less. About 20 students watched…
