Kathy Rath Marr

Kathleen Rath Marr joined Lakeland's faculty in 1987, but she grew up on Lakeland's campus, and today holds the position once held by her father, David Rath. With interests as wide ranging as ecology, stem cells and aviation, she motivates students in some of the college's top-level science courses while serving a leadership role for the natural science division. She is the author of "Into the (Grether) Woods," which documents the rich ecology surrounding Lakeland. An active member of the community, she has held leadership positions with Maywood Environmental Park and the Emergency Planning Committee for Sheboygan County.

Paul Pickhardt

In a relatively short period of time, Paul Pickhardt has had a dramatic impact on Lakeland College and its students. A member of Lakeland's faculty since 2006, Dr. Pickhardt was named Lakeland's winner of the Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2011. He has a genuine love for biology, and he has great success getting his students to share in his enthusiasm. Paul demands hard work, but he's one of Lakeland's most approachable and supportive instructors. An aquatic ecologist, Paul has published and presented extensively on this work. He partnered with fellow biology faculty member Greg Smith to create Lakeland's tropical biology course in Belize, and Paul's dedication to environmental issues resulted in the college's participation in Focus the Nation to raise awareness about climate change.

Jeffery Schwehm

Jeff Schwehm brings a truly student-centered approach to his work, both in and out of the classroom. Dr. Schwehm fosters student exploration and learning by serving as a mentor to several students working in the Lakeland Undergraduate Research Experience program, which he co-founded. Several of his students have presented their research at regional and national gatherings, including American Chemical Society Meetings and at The Argonne National Laboratory Undergraduate Symposium. He serves as Lakeland's Faculty Athletic Representative and is a fixture at many of the college's athletic contests. Jeff is director of the Lakeland College Science and Engineering Fair, which accepts science fair projects from middle school and high school students.

Gregory Smith

Greg Smith is always working to create new ways for his students to learn. A member of the college's faculty since 2003, Dr. Smith is co-founder of Lakeland Undergraduate Research Experience (LURE), which allows students to work alongside their faculty as peers in conducting primary research. Greg always has students in the program that he pushes to explore new avenues in science. He partnered with fellow biology faculty member Paul Pickhardt to create Lakeland's tropical biology course in Belize, an amazing hands-on opportunity to conduct research in the rainforest. Students find in Greg a supportive mentor who's quick with a smile. Greg serves as the faculty advisor for the college's chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
