Student as Practitioner

International Business SAP

Students majoring in international business work on five specific skill sets in their coursework: analyzing a foreign market, funding a foreign venture, managing cash flow through foreign exchange markets, strategic planning, and developing an understanding of demographics and cultural nuances required when dealing in international commercial endeavors. Students are introduced to these concepts in the Principles of International Business course (BUS 284), and these themes are repeated and added to throughout their curriculum.

Projects have ranged from analyzing news items relating the field of international business (BUS 284) to working with area businesses to develop market entry plans for specific foreign markets (BUS 469) to analyzing the role of international law on specific business initiatives (BUS 474). Students have attended the Annual Northeastern Wisconsin Global Trade Conference to hear more about the industry from expert speakers.
