Orff Schulwerk Certification Program

Orff Schulwerk Certification Program

About the Program

Lakeland University will be host its Orff Schulwerk Certification program July 8-19, 2024. Over the course of these two weeks, music educators will develop their personal musicianship skills, learn to create stylistically and age-appropriate arrangements, and experience pedagogical models appropriate for the elementary and middle school classroom that emphasize improvisation and creativity. This approach stresses the importance of developing a child’s body, ear, and mind as an integrated pathway to creative expression and comprehensive musicianship.

Students have the option to register for the Orff Schulwerk Certification Program – Level I for three graduate credits, or as a non-credit bearing workshop. Orff Schulwerk Certification Program – Level I credits can be applied to the Master of Music in Music Education – Kodály Emphasis degree offered at Lakeland University. All students who complete the two-week course will be awarded the AOSA level certificate acknowledging participation. (NOTE: This certificate is not the Orff Schulwerk Certificate from AOSA – this is awarded upon completion of all three levels of Orff Schulwerk levels of training.)

Lakeland University is planning to offer Level I and Level II in the summer of 2024. Students may choose to enroll for graduate credit or for 0 credits.
