Faculty

The Career Development Office invites faculty members to partner with us and provide relevant career related information to our students. By partnering in such opportunities, you help students better understand the value of their liberal arts education and how to prepare for the working environment. Below is a brief listing of the services we have to to offer with faculty members in mind! 

Don't Cancel Class - 

If you know in advance that you will need to be out of the classroom, please consider contacting us as an alternative for your students. We would like to help you best utilize the class time to provide students with information on a variety of topics. We can present for an entire class period...or just part of it. Please complete this form and we will be sure to contact you.  So, keep us in mind the next time you need to be away from campus!

Class Assignments - As part of your course requirements, if you would like students to complete a resume, cover letter, or any other project career related, please give us a call and we can help coordinate that process with you.  We would like to meet with students individually to review their specific needs and concerns.  We can also keep in contact with you to ensure that everyone has met your expectations.  Consider adding a career compenet in your classroom!

Career Connect

- This on-line database is a tool for faculty and staff members to stay connected to the Career Development Office and receive informaiton on upcoming events and programs.  You can also point out specific internship opportunities in your classroom or encourage students to register.  Check it out at ... www.myinterfase.com/lakeland/faculty  

Internship Advisor Resources - If you are working with a student to do an internship, please also advise them to make a stop at the Career Development Office. It is necessary that they complete paperwork in order to earn academic credit.  Learn more with our Internship Guide.

Refering Students - Please continue to encourage students to visit our office. If you do refer someone, we would love to hear about it in advance—simply contact us and let us know where we will be able to help most. You can encourage them to visit us to for the following:

  • Freshmen Year - Understand how their personality type may lend itself to a particular career field; Decide on a major; Better understand the career choices within the major; or check out our first year guide for additional suggestions.
  • Sophomore Year - Learn more about themselves; reassure them about their major choice; consider internships and/or part-time jobs to gain specific skills and experiences; Develop a preliminary resume; or check out our second year guide for additional suggestions. 
  • Junior Year - Prepare for a more formal internship; Review their resume; Consider doing informational interviews and work on networking opportunities; or check out our third year guide for additional suggestions.
  • Senior Year - Review interview tips; Practice with a mock interview; Finalize their resume; Learn about the job search process; or check out our fourth year guide for additional suggetsions.
