Passport To Success
Welcome to your first year at Lakeland College! We are happy that you have entrusted Lakeland to help you accomplish your educational and personal goals as you prepare for your future.
Purpose
The Lakeland College "Passport to Success" program is designed to assist first-year students learn more about Lakeland College; to become connected to the students, faculty and staff; to learn about the services available to them; and to expose them to activities that will assist them during their journey through their first year in college.
Areas to Explore
- Be a Muskie! - Learn the traditions and rich culture of the Lakeland College community.
Activities: Homecoming, International Food Festival, the Involvement Fair, a CAB trip, the Spring Play, an Art Reception, and Chapel Service
- Find Success! - Build a solid academic foundation towards intellectual development and ultimately to graduation.
Activities: Academic Resource Center sessions on note-taking, time management, how to prepare for exams, motivation, how to utilize a campus tutor, and how to set up their four-year academic plan
- Find Yourself! - Develop a well-balanced lifestyle, emotional well-being, physical well-being, leadership skills, personal growth, communication skills and decision-making skills.
Activities: Attend educational sessions on time management, health care, personal assessment and exploration, financial literacy, spiritual life, diversity, self-defense, etiquette, and leadership
- Find Your Future! - Explore personal strengths, interests are, choosing a major, and building a solid foundation to ensure achievement of their future career and life goals.
Activities: Attend a Majors Market, Job Fair, build a resume, connection to Career Development software tools, and meet with career counselors
- Find Others! - Experience the benefit of service to others both on campus and in the surrounding community.
Activities: Participate in "Make a Difference Day," Habitat for Humanity building project, campus service, community service, campus Blood Drive or Relay for Life cancer run.
Rewards & Motivation
Various prizes and rewards throughout the year with a grand prize of FREE textbooks for the first semester of sophomore year!
Outcome Expectations
That this program will pave the path for each new student as they begin their journey to very successful first year at Lakeland College.
