Q What will I do at Orientation?
A Orientation will include many different activities and events to help you become more familiar with campus as well as to introduce you to the orientation staff and other new students and families. You will hear from current students about their Lakeland experience and will have the opportunity to ask questions about college life. Workshops and small group sessions will provide you with information to assist you in the transition to college and ensure that you have a great experience. The evening will be filled with entertainment and activities that you wont want to miss! Special sessions have been designed for your parents and families so feel free to bring them along.
Each orientation weekend begins with a SEED (Student Early Enrollment Day) program for students who wish to take care of everything in one visit. The program takes place in the morning of the first day of orientation. Participants will complete SEED early enough to make it to all orientation sessions. You may also choose to attend SEED on a date separate from that of your orientation weekend. A variety of options exist to make the experience convenient for you and your family.
Q What is SEED day?
A SEED Day (Student Early Enrollment Day) is an opportunity for you to visit campus and select your classes for the fall semester. Listed are the following dates for SEED during the spring and summer of 2008:
- Saturday, March 29, 2008
- Saturday, April 12, 2008
- Saturday, May 17, 2008
- Friday, June 13, 2008
- Friday, July 11 (Orientation weekend to follow)
- Monday, July 21 (Orientation weekend to follow)
Q What will happen at SEED Day?
A The SEED day schedule is individualized to fit your needs that day. Placement testing (if necessary), meetings with your academic advisor and a financial aid counselor, and roundtable sessions offering you the ability to ask questions of campus offices such as career services, residence life, and student activities will occur. We also treat you and your family to lunch!
Q Where will I stay during Orientation?
A Students who attend the summer orientation program will stay on campus in a traditional residence hall and will be assigned a roommate for the evening. Through this experience you will gain first hand knowledge of what it is like to be a student at Lakeland College, and it is a great way for you to have fun and get to know other new students.
