Summer Orientation

Student Orientation

Orientation Dates:

Monday & Tuesday, July 20-21
Friday & Saturday, July 24-25
The program begins with check-in at 1:00pm on Day One and will conclude in the early afternoon on Day Two.

Q - What will I do at Orientation?

A - Orientation will include many different activities and events to help you become more familiar with campus, as well as to introduce you to the Lakeland College staff and other new students and families. You will hear from current students (Orientation Leaders) about their Lakeland experience and will have the opportunity to ask questions about college life. Workshops and small group sessions will provide you with information to assist you in your transition to college and ensure that you have a great experience. The evening of Day One will be filled with entertainment and activities that you won't want to miss! Special sessions have been designed for parents and families, so feel free to bring them along.
Each Summer Orientation begins with a SEED (Student Early Enrollment Day) program for students who wish to take care of everything in one visit. The program takes place in the morning of the first day of Orientation. Participants will complete SEED early enough to make it to all portions of Orientation. You may also choose to attend SEED on a date separate from that of your Orientation dates. A variety of options exist to make the experience convenient for you and your family.

Q - What is SEED day?

A - SEED Day (Student Early Enrollment Day) is an opportunity for you to visit campus and select your classes for the fall semester. Listed are the following dates for SEED during the spring and summer of 2009:

  • Saturday, May 16, 2009
  • Friday, June 19, 2009
  • Monday, July 20, 2009 (followed by Orientation)
  • Friday, July 24, 2009 (followed by Orientation)

Q - What will happen at SEED Day?

A - The SEED schedule is individualized to fit your needs that day. Placement testing (if necessary), meetings with your academic advisor and a financial aid counselor, and roundtable sessions offering you the ability to ask questions of campus offices such as Career Services, Residence Life and Student Activities will occur. We also treat you and your family to lunch!

Q - Where will I stay during Orientation?

A - Students who attend the summer orientation program will stay on campus in a traditional residence hall and will be assigned a roommate for the evening. Through this experience, you will gain first hand knowledge of what it is like to be a student at Lakeland College. Plus, it is a great way for you to have fun and get to know other new students!
There are several lodging options available for families who will be attending Orientation with their student. The following locations are close to campus (20 minute drive) and offer a Lakeland College room rate. Be sure to let them know you are a Lakeland Orientation guest when reserving a room and it is best to book well in advance.
