Athletics - posted on 5/1/2012

This week, the Lakeland College baseball team wraps up the 2012 campaign with a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

The Muskies (17-19, 7-13 NAC) travel to Madison, Wis., to face Edgewood College in the regular season finale.

The Muskies went 1-3 over the weekend and were eliminated from NAC Tournament contention. Lakeland dropped a pair of games on Saturday to Benedictine University, 8-7 and 5-4. On Sunday, the Muskies snapped their eight-game losing streak as they defeated MSOE, 12-7, in game one, before losing game two, 6-3.

Tim Green paced the Lakeland offense, coming off the bench to hit .455 (5-for-11) with three RBIs and two runs scored. Green also had a team-high .538 on-base percentage. Ryan Boettcher and Mike Ruzek led the team in hits, each collecting seven.

Lakeland's pitchers got roughed up a bit, going a combined 1-3 with a 5.77 ERA. The Muskies allowed 26 runs, 22 earned, on 44 hits in 34 and a third innings. David Cherney allowed his first earned run of the season, while Ryan Krzyzkowski and Boettcher each allowed just one hit in their outings.
