The Lakeland College Board of Trustees recently added two of the college's graduates to its ranks.
David Pierce, a 1970 Lakeland graduate, and Irv Kaage, a 1973 graduate, were elected to four-year terms. Lakeland's board now has 28 members.
Pierce has developed athletics and facilities programs for multiple institutions beginning in 1976. He retired from Maryville University in St. Louis in 2002 after 26 years in various capacities, including director of athletics. He is currently undergraduate sport management coordinator at Missouri Baptist University. A basketball standout at Lakeland, Pierce was inducted into the Lakeland Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. He chaired the Blasters Golf Classic this year and has been a long-time participant in the tournament.
Kaage is the president and owner of Transor Filter System, based in Elk Grove Village, Ill. The international company manufactures and distributes edge-filtration systems for EDM and carbide cutting tooling manufacturers. In 2010, Kaage received the Lakeland College Alumni Association's Professional Achievement Award. He is a member of the Sesquicentennial Campaign Cabinet.
