April Arvan, Lakeland's all-time winningest women's basketball coach and longtime instructor and professor, graduated from Lakeland with her bachelor's in secondary education and broad field social studies in 1993 and her master's in education in 1995.

She earned her Ph.D. in education from Northcentral University in Arizona in 2010.

Arvan's record as head basketball coach from 1994-2007 was 266-84 and she won eight conference titles and led her teams to five NCAA Division III tournament appearances.

Beyond coaching, Arvan has worked with the NCAA. She has presented and facilitated at numerous NCAA conferences, with topics ranging from student-athlete leadership to athletics-campus relationships.

Arvan joined the faculty fulltime in 2007 and has taught more than a dozen different courses in various departments over the years.
