Madeleine Wattenberg, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Writing

Madeleine Wattenberg holds a PhD in poetry and a graduate certificate in women, gender and sexuality studies from the University of Cincinnati. She also received an MFA in poetry from George Mason University and a BA in English and philosophy from Centre College. Her debut poetry collection, I/O, was selected by Billy Collins as a finalist for the Miller Williams Poetry Prize and published by University of Arkansas Press in 2021. Her poetry appears in journals including Poetry, The Rumpus, sixth finch, Fairy Tale Review, Mid-American Review, Guernica, Best New Poets and Poetry Daily. She has served as an editor for numerous literary journals and received awards from the Academy of American Poets and the Taft Research Center. Her scholarship focuses on ecopoetics, queer ecocriticism and feminist poetics.
